All roads lead to Rome. It’s not the destination, it’s the journey. Spontaneity is the best kind of adventure... Absolutely, 100% agreed! However, if you only have limited time and want to visit certain places and experience specific adventures, and that during the high season, then we can only recommend for you to plan ahead. Travel plan :)

Free travel plan? What exactly is that?

Our free travel plan is your personal travel itinerary put together for you by us.

Nice. And how does it work?

Step 1: When we create an itinerary for you, we first ask you when and where you will arrive, how long you want to travel and from where you will depart at the end. If you already have an idea of places you want to go and activities you want to do, let us know beforehand. With this information we will then put together a draft for you, taking into account the seasons, weather and the duration of some activities.

Step 2: If you are happy with our plan, we can discuss the details: There are many different companies in Australia offering similar activities at the same location. Which option is the best for you depends on your personal priorities (e.g. comfort and good food over crazy parties). To know which activities suit you, we ask you the right questions and then send you a pre-selection from which you can choose. Maybe for your itinerary it makes more sense to travel with a group, we can also present you different options for this kind of travel style.

Step 3: Last but not least, you tell us whether you prefer to travel by car, bus or caravan and what type of accommodation you prefer, and we then create your personal travel package accordingly. Of course, it is also possible to leave your accommodation open for the time being and also book some tours and activities as "open dated", but be careful, depending on the season, popular tours and vehicles are booked out quickly, but we will point this out to you when planning your route.

Sounds great, but how can it be free?

The tour providers and rental companies pay us, not you! Since we have agreements with almost all providers, we can remain neutral with our advice and still earn something along the way :) Don't worry, part of the itinerary and our service is also to tell you about great free activities and secret places so you can really make the most of your trip. Our priority is to do everything we can to make sure you get the best value for your money and have an unforgettable trip.

Why do you recommend having a travel plan?

Not everyone likes to plan ahead and some people even travel just to not have to plan for once. Why does it make sense to have a travel plan? Here are some good reasons:

  • Seasons: In the North of Australia there is the wet season. Did you know that the West Coast between Broome and Darwin is even closed in the Australian summer because of this?
  • Availability: Popular tours are popular for a reason and therefore are booked out quickly. If you want to experience the best activities, secure your spot early!
  • Time: If you have limited time and a list of places you want to see, you need a good plan. Australia and New Zealand are huge countries, so don't underestimate the distances.
  • Cheaper prices: Did you know that cars and campervan hiring prices are working in the same way as flight prices? The later you book, the more expensive they become. Planning ahead is therefore usually cheaper.
  • Budget planning: It's always good to know how expensive certain activities are before you travel, so you can calculate your budget and not worry about finances on your vacation. Australia and New Zealand are not necessarily more expensive than Germany, but when travelling you will spend more on eventful days and social nights. Make sure you know how much you need in advance.
  • Insurance: Some insurances only cover the costs of cancelled tours and activities if you have booked them in advance. Did you know that?!

Why plan my itinerary with Germans Travel and not just do it myself?

We know Australia and New Zealand inside out, not from a catalogue but through our own experience. Most members of our team have travelled through both countries with a campervan and have tried out most of the tours and activities themselves. We know what to look for depending on your type and what makes the difference for you between an OK experience and the trip of your lifetime.

Do we need to say more or are in :)
